Sefdin contains Cefdinir, which is FDA approved for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated bacteria in the following conditions:

  • Acute maxillary sinusitis
  • Community-Acquired pneumonia & Acute Exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
  • Pharyngitis/tonsilitis
  • Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections
  • Paediatric patients
  • Acute bacterial otitis media
  • Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis

These bacterial infections can be effectively treated with the help of Sefdin 300 mg capsule. Cefdinir (the active ingredient of Sefdin) is a cephalosporin antibiotic and kills bacteria that cause infection in the body. Before you begin taking this antibiotic medication, please ask your doctor for the correct use of the drug. Remember, using antibiotics such as Cefdinir will not work for cold, flu or, other infections.

The recommended dosage of this drug for adults is 300 mg after every twelve hours a day. The dosage should be adjusted under the supervision of the doctor. Report your doctor after a regular time interval of 3 to 4 weeks. This drug can be consumed along with other medication but under the strict supervision of your doctor. Dose adjustment is recommended in patients with compromised renal function. In general, Sefdin can be consumed before or after consuming food.  For patients who are suffering from stomach problems, it is recommended to take the capsule with food. 

Cefdinir drug is reported to contraindicate in the following cases:

  • People who are allergic to Cefpodoxime and Proxetil
  • Women who are pregnant or planning pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding mother
  • Hypersensitivity

Inform your doctor whether you have had previous hypersensitivity reactions to Cefdinir, cephalosporins, penicillins or other drugs. Clostridium associated diarrhea has been reported with nearly all antibacterial agents, including Cefdinir, and the side effects may range in severity from mild to life-threatening. Consuming Sefdin capsules in the absence of a suspected bacterial infection is unlikely to benefit you and increase the risk of the development of drug-resistant bacteria. Prolonged use may result in the overgrowth of a resistant organism. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of colitis. In patients with persistent renal insufficiency, the total daily dose should be reduced. Let your doctor know if you are taking antacids containing aluminium, magnesium, iron supplements, or multivitamins containing iron. Take Also, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while receiving antibiotic treatment, speak to your doctor.

Sefdin 300 mg may cause side effects. Let your doctor know if you develop side effects that are severe or do not go away. These may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, reddish colored stools, and vaginal itching. Cefdinir may cause serious side effects as well. Tell your doctor if you develop hives, rash, difficulty breathing, fever, chills, sore throat, watery or bloody stools. If you experience a serious side effect, your doctor will temporarily discontinue treatment or stop the treatment.
