Requip XL is a long-acting prescription medicine containing Ropinirole to treat Parkinson’s disease. It is also effective in treating a condition called Restless legs syndrome. You must not take more than one medicine that contains Ropinirole. Let your doctor know if you are taking other medicines containing the active pharmaceutical agent. The anti-parkinsonian drug has not been studied in children. People who have Parkinson’s disease have low dopamine levels, a natural chemical substance in the brain. Requip extended-release tablets with Ropinirole, which work like those of natural dopamine, reduce the symptoms of the brain disorder.

Always take Requip tablets as your doctor has told you. Speak to your doctor if you are not sure about the correct usage instructions. The medicine is not suitable for patients under 18 years of age. Your doctor may prescribe it alone or in combination with Levodopa to treat the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. If you are taking Levodopa, you may experience uncontrollable movements, especially during the initial days of the treatment.  You must inform your doctor if this happens to you. It may take a while to find out the correct dose of Ropinirole for you. Usually, the treatment begins with a lower dose, and the dose gradually increases as per the patient’s condition. If you experience side effects that are difficult to tolerate at the start of the treatment, speak to your doctor straight away.  For best results, it is best to take medicine under the supervision of a doctor.

Do not take Requip extended-release tablet if you are allergic to Ropinirole or any other ingredients of the medication. Let your doctor know if you have serious kidney disease, liver disorder, serious heart complaints, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Tell your doctor if you experience apathy, anxiety, depression, lack of energy, pain or sweating after stopping the medication. If any of these problems persist for more than a few days, your doctor may need to make dose adjustments. Inform your doctor if your family notices that you are developing cravings to behave unusually. For example, you cannot resist the impulse t carry out certain activities; you could harm yourself.

Requip extended-release tablet may cause serious side effects, including falling asleep during normal activities. You should be careful until you know if Ropinirole affects your ability to remain alert while performing daily activities. It is quite possible that you could fall asleep while normal activities such as driving a car, handling hazardous machinery, or doing other physical tasks while taking the anti-parkinsonian drug. During the initial days of the treatment, you may feel dizzy, nauseated, faint, or sweaty when standing up from a lying position. Some patients taking this anti-parkinsonian agent have shown urges to behave unusually. The most common side effects of Requip XL 8 mg are Requip XL 8 mg vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, or sleepiness.
