Lotim 0.5% 5 ml eye drops contain the active ingredient Timolol, which belongs to a class of medications known as beta-blockers, which lowers the pressure in your eyes. It treats glaucoma when the pressure within the eye is raised.

Always use Lotim 0.5% 5 ml eye drops exactly as your ophthalmologist has told you. You should check with your ophthalmologist if you are unsure about the correct usage of the drug. Your ophthalmologist will decide how many drops you should use each day and how long you should use them. The recommended dose is one drop in the affected eyes twice daily (one in the morning and one in the evening). Do not allow the tip of the eye drop to touch the area around your eyes. It may contaminate with bacteria that can lead to an eye infection, ultimately causing serious eye damage, even loss of eyesight.

To avoid contamination, keep the tip of the container from contact with any surface. One drop of Timolol should be administered to the affected eye each time. After using the eye drop, press a finger into the corner of your eye, by the nose, for two minutes. This helps to stop the eye drop from getting into the rest of your body.

Do not use Lotim 0.5% eye drops if you are allergic to Timolol, beta-blockers, or any other ingredients in the medicine. Avoid using this ophthalmic solution if you have now or have had in the past respiratory problems such as asthma or severe lung diseases such as chronic obstructive bronchitis, which may cause wheeziness, breathing difficulty, or long-standing cough. The use of Lotim is contraindicated in the cause of heart problems, disorders of heart rhythm, and heart failure.

Inform your ophthalmologist of the following:

   – If you have an operation, you are using Lotim eye drops, as the eye drops may change the effects of some medicines used during anaesthesia

   – If your eyes become irritated or any new eye problem develops. Eye issues could include redness, skin rash, and eye itching); stop taking Timolol eye drops and contact your ophthalmologist immediately.

   – If you injure your eye or have an eye operation

   – If your existing eye problems worsen or you get any new symptoms

Timolol maleate should be used with caution in infants and children. If coughing, wheezing, abnormal breathing, or abnormal pauses in breathing may occur, the use of the eye drops should be stopped immediately.

The most frequently reported side effects have been burning and stinging upon the instillation of Timolol maleate. Additional reactions include cataracts, headache, blurred vision, hypertension, itching, infection, and decreased visual acuity. If these side effects become bothersome, please talk to your ophthalmologist.
