Janumet 50+850 mg is an oral antihyperglycaemic drug used to control blood sugar levels in patients with Type 2 diabetes. It combines two active ingredients, namely Sitagliptin and Metformin, in a single formulation. Sitagliptin is categorized under a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, whereas Metformin is a biguanide. Both the medication work together to control blood sugar levels in patients with Type 2 diabetes. Janumet helps 

It is available as tablets for oral administration. The combination product is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with Type 2 diabetes mellitus when sitagliptin and Metformin extended release is appropriate. It increases the insulin produced after a meal and lowers the amount of sugar made by your body. Along with diet and exercise, this anti-diabetic agent helps to lower blood sugar levels.

Take Janumet 50+850 mg only when it is prescribed to you. Your doctor will decide how many tablets to take and how often you should take them. Take the tablet with meals to avoid stomach disturbances. Follow all directions given by your doctor carefully, stick to the same dosing regimen that your doctor prescribes.

Your doctor may adjust the dose based on effectiveness and tolerability. Take this medicine once daily with a meal, preferably in the evening. Be sure to take it regularly Sitagliptin and Metformin.

Contact to take this anti-diabetic medication as long as your doctor prescribes it so you can continue to improve glycaemic control. When you use your anti-diabetic agent and diet and exercise, your body uses its blood sugar better. Discuss with your doctor when to stop Janumet.

Do not take Janumet if you have an allergy to Sitagliptin or Metformin or any of the medicine ingredients. Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include itchiness, skin rash, shortness of breath swelling of the face, lips, mouth, throat, and tongue. If you are not sure whether you start taking Janumet 50+850 mg or not. Before taking the combination medicine, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant. Anti-diabetic medicine is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Let your doctor know if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. The combination medication should not be used while breastfeeding. Do not use this anti-diabetic agent for the treatment of Type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis. The use of Janumet is contraindicated in case of severe kidney problems. In severe liver or heart disease, Sitagliptin and metformin formulation should not be used. Avoid consuming excessive alcohol.

The most common side effects reported with sitagliptin and Metformin and more commonly in patients having diarrhea, headache, and upper respiratory tract infection. Janumet may have some other side effects not listed on this page.
