Fluticasone Propionate is a synthetic corticosteroid given in the condition called inflammation. They are used to relieve allergic signs and symptoms by decreasing the inflammation in the body. It belongs to the class of corticosteroids. This medicine is administered in an Inhaler dosage form. Rota caps have measured amount of drug when inhaled produces the effect. This type of dosage form offers maximum drug at the site of action and offers no side effects.

How it works?

Fluticasone propionate is a steroidal drug and produces anti inflammatory effects. It inhibits the formation of inflammatory mediators which causes allergic symptoms like runny nose, sneezing and sore throat. It stops the biosynthesis of potent inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This way, it stops the allergic signs and symptoms.

When should you avoid it?

You should not take Fluticasone Propionate if you:

  • Are allergic to Fluticasone propionate
  • Have any past record of disease conditions like tuberculosis, lung infection, glaucoma and herpes infection
  • are pregnant or planning to become a pregnant
  • are breast feeding
  • are taking oral steroidal medicines
  • have recent nasal injury or surgery
  • are having diabetes

How to take?

Follow all the instructions mentioned on the leaflet.

  • Always check the mouthpiece before using, it should always be clean and dirt free
  • Shake the inhaler by holding it in a upright position
  • Breathe out the air and completely empty your lungs
  • Put the mouthpiece in your mouth and close your lips
  • Take a deep breath through your mouth and press the canister to get puff of the medicine
  • Remove the inhaler and continue to hold your breath for 10 seconds
  • Breathe out through nose
  • Replace the cap and if needed take the second step by repeating steps mentioned above

When to take?

Take the medicine as prescribed by the Doctor. He will decide and tell you how many puffs to be taken each time. Always try to take the dose at the same time each day; this reduces the chances of missing a dose.

For how long should it be taken?
