Dicorate 750 mg is a prescription medicine used in combination with other medicines to treat seizures. It is effective for the long-term treatment of bipolar I disorder to lengthen the time between mood episodes such as bipolar disorder or depression. It is unknown if this anti-convulsant drug is safe and effective when used as a monotherapy for seizures. The medicine can cause liver failure that may be life-threatening, especially in children under two years of age and in people with liver problems caused by certain genetic disorders. You should avoid using this anti-seizure drug if you have liver disease, low platelets count, a urea cycle disorder, or a genetic disorder such as Alper’s disease.

Take Dicorate ER 750 mg exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not increase dose or frequency without your doctor’s approval. While using the medication, do not use alcohol and other prescription and over the counter drugs without consulting your doctor. Especially, avoid using pain medications, antihistamines, sedatives, or hypnotics. Maintain adequate hydration. Overdose symptoms include nausea, vomiting, agitation, urinary retention, coma, cramps, seizures, neuromuscular disturbances, and respiratory depression. Never take more than the prescribed amount. You may experience blurred vision, dizziness, or drowsiness; therefore, use caution when driving or engaging in tasks requiring alertness. You may also experience nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, and loss of appetite. However, eating frequent meals, proper mouth care, chewing gum, or sucking lozenges may help. Drinking alcohol may increase the risk of side effects. Avoid driving or indulging in activities that require your attention. This way, your reaction could be impaired. Using Divalproex during pregnancy may increase the risk of congenital disabilities that can develop early in pregnancy. Using this anti-convulsant drug during pregnancy can harm your cognitive ability later in your child’s life.

Report central nervous system effects, changes in cognition, muscle cramping, persistent gastrointestinal symptoms, gait changes, weakness, rash or skin irritations, unusual bleeding, worsening of seizure activity, or loss of seizure control. Get emergency medical help if you sign of an allergic reaction to Dicorate extended-release tablet. Serious allergic reaction symptoms include difficulty breathing, hives, and swelling in your face or throat. Seek immediate medical help if you have a serious drug reaction that can affect many parts of your body. Symptoms include swollen glands, unusual bruising, skin rash, severe weakness, muscle aches, yellowing of your skin or eyes. Call your doctor if the person taking this anti-convulsant drug has signs of liver or pancreas. The symptoms include upper stomach pain and loss of appetite. Report worsening of symptoms to your doctor such as anxiety, mood changes, trouble sleeping, or if you feel agitated, restless, hostile, depression, impulsive, agitated, or have suicidal thoughts.
