Dalacin C 150 mg contains the active substance Clindamycin, which belongs to the class of drugs known as antibiotics, and it is effective in treating a variety of serious bacterial infections. It is useful in treating infections of the throat, lungs, stomach, bones, joints, teeth, skin, and soft tissues. Clindamycin stops the growth of bacteria which improves the symptoms and cures the underlying infection.

You may take this antibiotic drug before or after consuming food. Take it regularly the same way your doctor has prescribed it to you. Follow your doctor’s advice when it comes to taking the medication. Your doctor will decide the correct dose that suits you and help you get rid of the infection. Swallow the capsule with some liquid. Do not crush or open the capsules. For adults and elderly patients, the recommended dose for adults and elderly patients is 150 mg every six hours, depending on the severity of your infection. Your doctor may prescribe this antibiotic medicine to your child if he/she can swallow capsules. The dose for children usually depends on the severity of the infection. If your kid is not able to swallow capsules, please speak to your doctor. If your doctor advises you to take Clindamycin for a longer duration, he/she will conduct regular kidney, liver, and blood tests. Make sure you are regular with your appointments. Long term use may also increase the chance of getting other infections that do not responds to Dalacin C 150. Do not stop taking the drug without your doctor’s approval, as it may appear again or get worse.     

Do not take Dalacin C 150 mg if you are allergic to Clindamycin or any of the other ingredients of the formulation. Talk to your doctor before using the medication if you have the following conditions:

  • You have diarrhea or have ever suffered from problems with your stomach and intestines
  • You suffer from eczema, asthma, or hayfever
  • you have problems with your liver and kidneys
  • you develop any serious reactions
  • you develop any serious hypersensitivity reactions to Clindamycin or any of its inactive ingredients.

The antibiotic medication does not get into the brain and is therefore not suitable for treating serious infections in the brain. Acute kidney diseases may occur. Let your doctor know if you are taking any other medicines. These may include muscle relaxants, oral contraceptive pills, warfarin or other blood thinners. If you are pregnant or think you might get pregnant, you should talk to your doctor before taking this antibiotic drug.   

Tell your doctor immediately if you develop severe persistent diarrhea, fluid retention, blistering and peeling of large areas of skin, yellowing of the skin and whites. Rarely do people using Dalacin C capsules experience a severe allergic reaction. The symptoms of an allergic reaction include sudden wheeziness, breathing difficulties, rash, itching, swelling of the eyelids/face/lips/tongue/throat. Call your doctor right away if you develop such serious complications.
