Norflox DT 100 mg is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic medicine used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria. It contains the active ingredient Norfloxacin, which belongs to a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. The class of drugs known to treat bacterial infections by diminishing the activity of the susceptible bacteria. It is not known whether the medication is safe and works in children under 18 years of age. Children are more likely to get joint, bone, or tendons problems while taking Norfloxacin tablets. Sometimes, the cause of infection is a virus rather than bacteria. Examples include infection of the sinuses and lungs, such as common cold and flu. Norflox DT does not kill viruses; therefore, it should not be used to treat a viral infection.

Follow your doctor’s advice; take Norflox DT exactly as your doctor prescribes. This antibiotic drug is usually taken every twelve hours for patients with renal impairment. It is available in the form of a dispersible tablet that disintegrates quickly in water or disperses immediately in the mouth. Be sure to drink plenty of water during the treatment. Take Norflox an hour or two hours after a meal or have milk or other dairy products. Do not miss doses or stop treatment even if you begin to feel better until you finish your prescribed treatment.

Do not take Norflox DT 100 mg if you have ever had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic known as a fluoroquinolone or are allergic to any other ingredients present in the medicine. Ask your doctor if you are not sure about the correct usage of the medicine. You should not take Norfloxacin DT tablet if you have a history of tendinitis with this antibiotic drug or another fluoroquinolone antibiotic.  

Tell your doctor about all your medical conditions, including if you have:

      — Central nervous system problems

      — Tendon problems

      — Low blood potassium

      — Slow heartbeat

      — Rheumatoid arthritis

      — Kidney problems

      — Myasthenia gravis (characterized by muscle weakness)

      — History of seizures

      — Nerve problems

      — Low blood pressure

      — Irregular heartbeat

      — You are pregnant or planning to conceive. It is still not known whether Norfloxacin will harm your unborn child.

      — Are breastfeeding. It is still not known whether the antibiotic medicine passes into breast milk. Your doctor will decide whether you can take Norflox DT while breastfeeding or not.   

Allergic reactions can happen in people who take Fluoroquinolones, including Norflox DT 100 mg, even after taking a single dose. Discontinue treatment and get emergency medical help immediately if you get an allergic reaction.

The most common side effects of Norflox DT include nausea, diarrhoea, heartburn, weakness, headache, stomach cramping, dizziness, and changes in certain liver function tests. These are not all the possible side effects of the Norfloxacin tablet. Tell your doctor about any side effect that does not resolve or bothers you.
