Eptoin 100 mg is a prescription medicine effective in treating certain types of seizures called tonic-clonic and psychomotor seizures. The medicine has the active ingredient phenytoin, which is an anticonvulsant licensed for the management of seizures. It is also clinically approved to treat seizures that happen during or after brain surgery. The anticonvulsant drug works by controlling certain chemicals which send signals to nerves so that seizures do not occur. It may be used alone, or in combination with other medicines, to treat your condition.

Take Eptoin 100 mg as per your doctor’s recommendations. Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to take every day. The dosage of Phenytoin usually depends on your age, your condition, as well as severity of your condition. Your doctor will always recommend a lower dose of the Phenytoin and slowly increases the dose to the lowest amount required to manage convulsions. You must not take it if you are hypersensitive to methyl phenobarbitone or other barbiturate medicines. Do not take this if you take other medicines used to treat convulsions. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to Phenytoin include wheezing, shortness of breath, rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and throat leading to breathing difficulties. Do not take this drug if you take delavirdine, medicine effective in treating HIV infections. Let your doctor know if you have had any medical conditions especially heart problems, diabetes, liver disorder, high blood sugar levels, porphyria, Stevens Johnson syndrome, or a condition of lymph glands. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is important to control your fits while you are pregnant. Your doctor will decide if it is necessary for you take this anticonvulsant medicine during pregnancy.  

Tell your doctor if you do not feel well while you are taking Eptoin 100 mg. The anticonvulsant drug helps most people with epilepsy but may cause side effects in a few people. All medicines have side effects, sometimes they are serious but most of the time they are temporary and resolves within a few days of the treatment. You may need medical treatment if you develop some serious side effects and those persist for longer duration. If you are over 65 years of age, then you may be more likely to develop side effects associated with the use of the drug.
