Prazopress XL GITS 5 mg is a prescription treatment for patients with hypertension (high blood pressure). It is also used to treat prostate problems, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men waiting for prostate surgery. It contains the active ingredient Prazosin, which works by relaxing the muscles in the walls of blood vessels and making it easier for blood vessels and making it easier for blood to flow through them. They also relax the muscles in the prostate gland and increase urine flow. Prazosin is often used in combination with other medicines when used to treat high blood pressure.

   —  Follow all directions carefully by your doctor. Your doctor will instruct you on how much of this medicine you should take. This usually depends on your condition and whether you are taking any other medicine. Do not stop taking medicine or change the dose without first checking with the doctor. Swallow the pill with a glass full of water. You can break the tablet in half if your doctor has instructed. Take your very first dose just before going to bed. Be careful if you need to wake up during the night because you may feel dizzy and could fall. It does not matter if you take it before or after food

   — Prazopress XL GITS helps control your condition but does not cure it. Therefore, you must take your medicine every day. If you take this medicine for high blood pressure, heart failure, or Raynaud’s disorder, you must take it for a long time.

   — If you take Prazosin tablets for prostate problems, you will only have to take them until your operation. Continue taking medicine for as long as your doctor tells you.

   — The dose of Prazopress should be adjusted according to the patient’s blood pressure response

Do not take medicine if you are hypersensitive to or have had an allergic reaction to Prazosin or any other medication. Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include cough, wheezing or difficulty, shortness of breath, wheezing, or swelling of the face/lips/tongue or other parts of the body, itching, rash, hives on the skin, fainting, or hay fever-like symptoms. There is not enough information to recommend the use of Prazopress in children. Tell your doctor immediately if you develop painful erections or if your erection continues for longer than four hours. Limit the amount of alcohol you drink while taking prazosin tablets. Combing this medicine with alcohol can make you feel light-headed and dizzy.

Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you do not feel well while taking Prazosin or have any questions. If you are 65 years or older, you should be especially careful while taking this medicine. Report any side effects to your doctor. Tell your doctor if you notice any of the following:
