Generic Name Montelukast Sodium and Levocetrizine HCL

Montair LC kid is commonly prescribed to children for:

   — Relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis (a condition associated with a group of symptoms affecting the nose). The symptoms include itching, sneezing, nasal congestion, and rhinorrhoea (nasal discharge).

   — For prevention of seasonal allergic rhinitis and

   — Treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis

  1. In the treatment of allergic rhinitis

The medicine combines two active ingredients, Montelukast and levocetirizine, to treat allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itching, congestion, swelling, and watery eyes. It is also effective in treating asthma and skin allergies. If your child has been asked to take medicine to prevent getting symptoms, you should give the medicine to your child regularly for maximum benefits.

  1. In the treatment of allergic skin conditions

Montair LC kid effectively treats skin conditions that cause itching and inflammation. It reduces the action of certain chemicals in the body that causes skin inflammation. It is a safe and effective treatment when used correctly. It reduces the pain, redness, itchiness, or rash caused by your skin’s reaction to an irritant. It thus enhances your self-esteem and confidence as your appearance changes.    For best results, keep giving your child the medicine as prescribed.

Montair LC kid is for oral administration. You may give this medicine to your child before or after consuming food exactly as the doctor has prescribed. For the treatment of asthma, it is best to give Montair LC kid tablets in the evening or two hours before physical activity. When treating allergies, the medication can be taken in the morning or the evening, depending on the onset of the symptoms. If your child suffers from both of these conditions, it is best to give the medicine in the evening. If your child vomits within half an hour of taking medicine, give the tablet again, but skip it if it is already time for the next dose.

Montair LC kid should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to montelukast, levocetirizine, or any of the components of this product. It is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, rare hereditary problems of galactose tolerance, and glucose-galactose malabsorption. Let your child’s doctor know if your child is already taking any other medicine. Or share complete medical history, including heart problems, birth defects, blood disorders, liver insufficiency, kidney malfunction, skin disorder, airway obstruction, and any prior allergy episodes. The information is important for dose alteration and planning your child’s overall treatment.

Your child may begin to feel better after a few doses. However, it is still important to prescribe a dose to ensure full benefit. Moreover, stopping the treatment abruptly may worsen your child’s condition. The combination drug may cause minor and temporary side effects like nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and rash. Usually, these side effects subside once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, if these effects persist or start causing trouble for your child, talk to your doctor without further delay.
