Qutipin 25 mg contains the active ingredient Quetiapine, which belongs to a group of medicines known as antipsychotics. Quetiapine is FDA approved for schizophrenia, acute manic episodes, and treatment for major depressive conditions associated with bipolar disorder. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects how an individual thinks and behaves. Bipolar disorder causes extreme mood swings leading to depression. Antipsychotic drugs affect the level of certain chemicals in the brain that supports communication between nerve cells. Brain disorders may be due to an imbalance of certain chemicals (dopamine and serotonin). When these chemicals become out of balance, they may cause some of the symptoms you may be experiencing. Qutipin treats psychotic symptoms such as delusions, hallucinations, disorganization, and cognitive dysfunctions. This antipsychotic drug is not a cure for these mental health disorders but can help reduce symptoms and make you feel better. The exact mode of action is not known. However, it believes that Quetiapine adjusts the balance of these chemicals.

Always take Qutipin 25 mg the same way your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor if you are unsure regarding the dosing regimen. Your doctor will decide the starting dose. The daily maintenance dose will depend on your illness. Depending on your condition, you will take your tablets once daily before bedtime or twice daily. Swallow the tablet with a glass full of water. You can take your tablet before or after consuming food. Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while you are taking Quetiapine. It can affect the mechanism of action of this antipsychotic drug. Do not discontinue treatment even if you feel better unless your doctor instructs you. The common side effects of Qutipin 25 mg are:

• Feeling sleepy
• Dizziness
• Putting on weight
• Abnormal muscle movement. These include problems in starting muscle movements, feeling restless, shaking, or muscle stiffness without pain                                                      
• Discontinuation symptoms. These symptoms occur when you stop taking Quetiapine, including insomnia, headache, diarrhoea, being sick, feeling restless or muscle stiffness without pain.
• Changes in the number of triglycerides and total cholesterol
