Licab 300mg is used for the treatment of the manic-depressive disorder. It stabilises the mood and improves behaviour by restoring the balance of neurotransmitters (certain natural substances) produced in the brain. Other benefits of continued use of this medicine include decreasing how often manic episodes happen and decreasing the signs of manic episodes, such as the exaggerated feeling of well-being, feelings that others wish to harm you, anxiousness, irritability, loud speech, and aggressive behaviours. 

Take Licab 300 mg as directed by your doctor, usually three to four times a day for adults and 2 to 3 times daily for children. Take it right after meals to lessen stomach problems. Drink at least 8 to 12 glasses of water a day or other fluids daily, and eat a healthy diet with a normal amount of sodium as directed by your doctor while taking this medicine. Do not change the amount of salt in your diet unless your doctor tells you to; doing so may increase the lithium level in your blood. 

The dosage is based on your medical condition, the medicine's blood levels, and response to treatment. The dosage for children is based on weight. Take this medicine regularly at an evenly spaced time for the best effect. The medicine must be taken the same way your doctor has prescribed. Keep taking lithium carbonate tablets even if you feel better. Do not discontinue treatment without talking to your doctor, as some conditions may suddenly worsen when this drug is stopped. Inform your doctor if your condition doesn't get better or gets worse; it may take up to 1 to 3 weeks to improve your condition.    

Before using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially of heart, kidney, or urinary problems, seizures, leukaemia, seizures, dehydration, psoriasis, Parkinson's disease, and any infection with a high fever. Concurrent use of calcium channel-blocking agents with lithium may increase the risk of neurotoxicity, causing symptoms such as tremors, nausea, vomiting, tinnitus, nausea, and vomiting. Caution should be taken. The concomitant administration of lithium with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors should be taken cautiously as this combination may cause symptoms such as tremors, dizziness, confusion, diarrhoea, and agitation. Inform your doctor about all the medications you have been using besides Licab 300.  

Dizziness, tiredness, drowsiness, weight gain, increased frequency of urination, increased thirst, and mildly shaking hands may occur. These should resolve as your body adjusts to the medicine. If any of these side effects worsen, inform your doctor right away.   

Tell your doctor immediately if you have any serious side effects, including confusion, blurred vision, unsteady walking, severe hand trembling, diarrhoea, vomiting, trouble speaking, vision changes, muscle weakness, joint swelling, discolouration of finger/cold hands/toes/feet. Get immediate medical help immediately if you get any serious side effects, including severe dizziness, fainting, irregular heartbeat, seizures, and shortness of breath.
