Liofen 10 mg tablets are prescribed as muscle relaxer medication. It treats muscular symptoms such as stiffness, rigidity, tension etc. Baclofen is the main active ingredient present in Liofen– 10 mg Tablet. Baclofen belongs to a group of medicines called muscle relaxants, an antispastic agent used to relieve muscle spasms, cramping or tightness.

Baclofen is related to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a natural neurotransmitter in the brain. It is believed that Baclofen, acts like a GABA that blocks the activity of nerves within the part of the brain that controls the contraction and relaxation of skeletal muscle. This medicine blocks the nerve signals from muscles at the spinal cord level and may also depress the central nervous system, thus relieving pain and improving muscle movement.

This medicine is used to treat certain types of kidney stones and gout. It also decreases uric acid levels in people taking cancer treatment.
