Norflox eye drop 0.3% is a topical antibiotic used to treat eye and bacterial ear infections. It relieves symptoms of the infection by stopping the growth of the causative organisms. The topical product contains the active ingredient Norfloxacin, which belongs to an antibiotic class of medication.

Norflox eye drop is for topical use only. The recommended dose in adults and paediatric patients one year and older is one to two drops applied topically to the affected eye and four times a day for up to a week. Depending on the severity of the bacterial infection, the dosage for the first day of topical treatment may be one or two drops every two hours during the day. Follow your doctor's advice when it comes to using this topical formulation. Stick to the dosing regimen as advised by your doctor. Shake the bottle before use to make sure the medicine is well mixed.

For application, hold the bottle close to the eye/ear without touching the dropper. Gently squeeze the bottle and place the formulation inside the eye or ear. Be sure to wipe off the extra liquid with the help of tissues or a cotton swab. Avoid skipping the doses and finish the course even if you feel your symptoms have diminished.

If you use Norflox eye drops to treat a corneal ulcer, you may develop a whitish build-up on the ulcer, which means that the antibacterial agent is working and is not harmful.

Do not use Norflox eye drop 0.3% if you have a viral or fungal eye infection. The ophthalmic suspension is only effective in treating bacterial infections caused by the bacteria. It is not known whether the topical formulation will harm an unborn baby. Do not use a Norfloxacin drug without speaking to your doctor if you are pregnant. It is not known whether the antibacterial agent passes into breast milk. Therefore, discussing with your doctor whether you can breastfeed while using the liquid suspension is important.

Norflox eye drop 0.3% may cause application site irritation and a burning sensation immediately after application. However, side effects are temporary and usually resolve on their own. Tell your doctor immediately if they cause serious trouble or persist for longer. While using Norfloxacin drops for eye infection, you may experience short-term blurring of vision, especially during the initial days of the treatment. Be cautious while driving or operating machinery. Please do not use soft contact lenses while using the antibacterial eye drops. The antibacterial drug can cause the development of crystals on contact lenses. After application, wait for at least fifteen minutes before inserting your contact lenses unless your doctor advises.

In research studies, the most frequently reported side effects were burning sensation ad discomfort. Other related side effects were chemosis, corneal deposits, conjunctival hyperaemia and a bitter taste after installation.
