Simvotin 20 mg is a drug that is used to lower the bad cholesterol and fats like low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and triglycerides and raise good cholesterol that is high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and thus reduces the amount of cholesterol level and helps in reducing the risk of a heart attack. Simvastatin belongs to a group known as statins, which are useful in reducing the number of fatty substances such as low-density lipoprotein (LDL), bad cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood and increasing the amount of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), the good cholesterol in the blood. This drug is given along with the proper diet to give a better result and thus helpful in reducing the risk of a heart attack and helpful in lowering blood pressure.

The dose is one Simvotin 20 mg tablet by mouth once daily. Your doctor may adjust your dose after a few weeks. You may take the tablet with water. Take it either on an empty stomach or after a meal. Your doctor will tell you how long you need to take Simvotin tablets. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose tablet strength for you, depending on your condition, current therapy, and risk status. If you think the effect of Simvastatin is too strong for two weeks, talk to your doctor. No dose adjustment is required for elderly patients. Consult your doctor for the correct dosing regimen for children and adolescents.

Tell your doctor about all your medicinal conditions, including allergies. You should tell your doctor if you drink a large amount of alcohol. You should inform your doctor if you ever have liver disease. Simvotin may not be an appropriate option for you. Also, inform your doctor if you have an operation; you may need to discontinue treatment for a short time. Your doctor will monitor you closely if you have diabetes or are at high risk of developing diabetes. You are more likely to be at high risk of developing diabetes if you have excessive amounts of sugar and fats in your blood, are overweight, and have high blood pressure. Let your doctor know if you have severe lung disease. Also, tell your doctor if you have a muscle weakness that persists for a long time. You should immediately contact your doctor if you experience unexplained muscle pain or weakness. Rarely, muscle problems can be serious, including muscle breakdown resulting in renal impairment, and rarely life-threatening. Your risk of having muscle breakdown is even higher doses of Simvotin. The risk of muscle problems is also greater in certain patients. Inform your doctor if any of the following conditions applies to you:

• You have kidney problems 
• You have thyroid issues
• You are female
• You are more than 65 years old
• You have ever had muscle issues during treatment with cholesterol medications called statins  
• You consume large amounts of alcohol

If serious side effects happen with the use of Simvotin 20 mg, stop taking medicine and tell your doctor immediately. These include:

• Muscle pain, weakness, tenderness, or cramps, rarely muscle damage can be serious, including muscle breakdown resulting in renal impairment. 
• Hypersensitivity. The signs include:
   1. Weakness of limbs
   2. Severe muscle pain in the shoulders and hips
   3. Inflammation of joints
   4. Swelling of the face, tongue, and throat
   5. Shortness of breath
