Telma 40 mg is used in the treatment of hypertension, chest pain and heart attack. It contains Telmisartan, an angiotensin receptor antagonist and is an important medication given in heart associated conditions. The drug gets bind with an angiotensin receptor antagonist and induces actions like:

You should not take Telma 40 mg if you are allergic to Telmisartan, have hypotension or low blood pressure, congestive heart failure or aortic stenosis, kidney disease or dialysis, angioedema, high levels of electrolytes, liver problems, or have other heart problems. Avoid taking the drug if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Dehydration, sweating, and vomiting increase the risk of low blood pressure, so always consult your doctor. Telmisartan passes into breast milk and may cause fetal damage. Avoid drugs such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide and other diuretics, spironolactone, triamterene, potassium supplements, lisinopril, ramipril and other ace inhibitors, celecoxib, and indomethacin, aliskiren, digoxin, and lithium.

Commonly reported side effects of Telma 40 mg are headache, sinus pain, back pain and diarrhoea. Serious side effects which need medical attention include swelling of mouth, face, lips and throat, anxiety, irregular heartbeat, fever and chills, slurred speech, fainting, light-headedness, dizziness, unexplained weight gain, vision-related problems, painful urination, confusion, depression, numbness, tremors, and tingling sensation.
