Irovel 300 is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of hypertension, chest pain and heart attack. It contains Irbesartan is an angiotensin receptor antagonist and is an important drug given in heart associated conditions. Irbesartan belongs to the class of angiotensin 2 receptors antagonist or blockers. They oppose the effect of angiotensin and aids in smooth arterial blood flow. This all helps in reducing the elevated blood pressure levels, therefore useful in hypertension. It is also given in other cardiovascular problems.

Take Irovel 300 as prescribed by the physician. It is especially important to consume medicine timely. The dose is decided by the doctor depending upon the patient’s condition and demand. The initial recommended dose of Irbesartan starts from 150 mg and can be increased up to 300 mg depending upon the patient’s condition.  With time, dose adjustments are generally made according to the response of the patient. Always take the antihypertensive agent as prescribed by the doctor. For patients with kidney problems, the medicine dose will not be the same and depends on how well the patient’s kidney is working.  For elderly patients, the dose will be decided by the doctor, and the dose is usually based on how well your kidneys are working. The use of Irovel 300 in children with hypertension is limited.  If the child can swallow the tablet, the doctor will decide the dose per the child’s weight and blood pressure. Heart and blood pressure drugs are not recommended in newborn babies and kids with hepatic insufficiency.

Do not take Irovel 300 if you are allergic to Irbesartan or any other ingredients of the medication. You must not use this medicine if you ever had swelling of your face, lips, throat, tongue, which caused breathing or swallowing problems. Also, avoid taking medicine if you have diabetes or impaired kidney function and if you have been treated with a blood pressure-lowering drug-containing aliskiren. It is better to avoid Irbesartan in early pregnancy. Certain medicines can interact with your heart and blood pressure medicine. These include valsartan, a medicine prescribed for treating chronic heart failure in adults, as the risk of angioedema is increased. Check with your doctor if you have other medical conditions.

Common side effects of Irovel 300 include diarrhea, shortness of breath, tiredness, depression, change in the sense of taste, fainting, high levels of potassium in the blood, headache, abdominal pain, light-headedness due to low blood pressure, fast heartbeat, chest pain, and allergic reaction. The signs of an allergic reaction include swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, with difficulty in breathing.
