Description

SKU 1987
US Brand Name Arimidex
Strength 1 mg
Generic Name Anastrozole
Manufacturer Astra Zeneca, Turkey

Arimidex comprises Anastrazole, which lowers estrogen levels in postmenopausal women, and slows down the growth of certain types of breast cancer that require estrogen to develop in the body. The medicine is specially developed to treat breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It is often prescribed to women whose cancer has progressed after taking another anticancer medication called tamoxifen.

Arimidex is indicated for treating breast cancer in women who have gone through menopause. It contains the active ingredient Anastrazole, which falls into the category of drugs known as aromatase inhibitors. Anastrozole works by decreasing the production of the estrogen hormone that your body secretes. It does this by blocking the activity of the aromatase enzyme.

Always take medications as advised by your physician. You must check with him if you have doubts about the dosing schedule. The usual dose is one tablet per day. Swallow it with water. It doesn't matter whether you consume it with food or without food. Continue taking it as long as it is prescribed to you. Arimidex is a long-term treatment; you may need to take medicine for several years.

The medicine should not be given to children and adolescents.

Arimidex 1 mg can cause a severe allergic reaction. Symptoms may include hives, trouble breathing, and swelling of your throat and tongue. Call your physician immediately or visit the nearest health care centre if you have these symptoms.

Do not take Anastrozole if you have ever had an allergic reaction to it. Taking it again can be harmful. Do not take this breast cancer drug; discuss an alternative if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Let your physician know if you are using or have recently used any other medications, including medicines obtained with or without a prescription. This is necessary because Anastrozole can affect the mode of action of some medicines, and some medicines may affect how Arimidex works. Do not take the breast cancer drug if you are already taking tamoxifen or medicines that contain estrogen, such s hormone replacement therapy (HRT). If this applies to you, have words with your physician.
