Understanding the drug Erythromycin:

How it works?

Erythromycin is a specific inhibitor of protein synthesis and acts by penetrating the bacterial cell wall.  It specifically binds to the 50 S ribosomal subunits and blocks the binding of tRNA to the donor site. This way, it blocks the protein synthesis. This drug terminates the process of protein synthesis which is vital for the survival of bacteria thus ultimately results in death of bacteria.

You should not take Erythromycin   if you:

How to take?
